Touring Central and Eastern Switzerland
Day 1 - 2: Beckenried on Lake Lucerne
Whether you choose indoor or outdoor. In the immediate vicinity of the Hotel Nidwaldnerhof there is much to discover and experience for every generation.
Always worth a visit is our local mountain, the Klewenalp-Stockhütte. A cable car takes you comfortably to the versatile hiking and viewing paradise. The hiking and biking routes lead through unspoiled alpine flora, high above Lake Lucerne. At the mountain station, a large adventure playground, the "Playground Klewenalp HolzWelt", awaits young and old. On Sundays in summer it is worth visiting the yodel mass in the mountain chapel. A bike-board track from the Stockhütte down to Emmetten rounds off the day on the mountain perfectly. The varied route is hazard-free and provides an entertaining experience for young and old.
In winter, the best prepared ski and snowboard slopes await you on Klewenalp. In addition, a 9 km long toboggan run invites you to a racy ride down the valley.
Would you like to travel from canton to canton with the highest outdoor lift in Europe? This can also be done comfortably from us. Enjoy the impressive view on the Bürgenstock after the impressive ride with the Hammetschand lift, an engineering art from 1905!
Another true insider tip for nature lovers - in summer and in winter - is the Bannalp. A true gem, also located on our doorstep. The beautiful pre-Alpine high valley with idyllic mountain lake impresses with mighty peaks and unique nature. A true place of power.
And because it is a well-known fact that adventure makes you hungry, we invite you to enjoy a hearty meal right by the water afterwards. Whether in the lakeside restaurant, on the terrace, in the winter garden or the cozy lounge; we look forward to your visit and your stay at the Nidwaldnerhof.
Day 2 - 3: Schwägalp
From the lakeside directly to the mountain top! Embedded in one of the most beautiful mountain sceneries in Europe, the new, imposing "Säntis – das Hotel" on the Schwägalp at the foot of the Säntis. Whether summer or winter - let yourself be surprised by the modern hotel business and its fascinating world of experience and well-being.
In the warm season, naturalists and alpine dairymen meet in the Schägalp Säntis Nature Discovery Park, just as pliable moorland meets rock-hard rock. The exciting mixture attracts visitors from near and far and is home to endangered animal species. The balance to an active day in nature is created by a visit to the cozy wellness area "Weidwald" with its Finnish sauna, bio-sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and experience showers.
A stay on the Säntis peak is definitely not only worthwhile in summer and for hiking. Throughout the year, exciting events await guests. On full moon nights, for example, you can enjoy evening skiing, crowned by a full moon buffet with music. At the beginning of autumn, the Alpine Dairy organizes a cheese festival lasting several days. A look at the event calendar for an overview of all activities and festivals throughout the year is worthwhile.
Day 3 - 4 Zurich, Seefeld district, located on the right bank of Lake Zurich
From the heights back to the water!
The Alma Hotel Zürich Seefeld, located in the charming Seefeld quarter in district 8, is a real insider tip. Right in the middle of the action and yet an idyllic oasis of well-being.
The Art Nouveau villa near the lake offers a temporary home for connoisseurs seeking peace and quiet, art lovers and city lovers alike. The hotel with its exclusive "Ladies-Only" wellness area focuses on ecological and social responsibility. Balance is not just a buzzword, but is regarded as the highest standard.
There are numerous opportunities for excursions and discoveries right on the doorstep: whether on foot, by bike or by public transport - the attractions of the city of Zurich are easy to explore.
Our tip for today:
Start with a visit to the magnificent Villa Patumbah, which you can easily reach on foot. Built between 1883 and 1885, this building tells stories of times gone by. Today it is one of the most important examples of historicism in Zurich and is a listed building. The first floor houses the permanent exhibition "Experience building culture - up close!"
If you need a short break afterwards, a leisurely stroll through the Chinagarten will take you directly to the wonderful Utoquai Badi. Relaxed and refreshed, you can continue straight to the world-famous Kunsthaus.
Then take a short detour to Neumarkt: a wonderful little street in the upper village of Zurich. Follow the Rindermarkt, then turn left into Marktgasse. Treat yourself to a little visit to the H. Schwarzenbach delicatessen - an institution in Zurich. Just opposite, you can fortify yourself with coffee and cake at Café & Konditorei 1842 - formerly known as Konditorei Schober. The hot chocolate is incredible, by the way.
Afterwards, you can either take a leisurely walk back to the hotel with a stopover at the Grossmünster, or go straight to Limmatquai and take the streetcar back to your Zurich home.
After an enjoyable dinner in one of Zurich's many restaurants, where the culinary variety offers something for every taste and style, a restful night awaits you. The next morning you can look forward to a wonderful breakfast. For sports enthusiasts, the lakeside promenade offers the perfect opportunity for a walk or jog, while the lake itself provides an invigorating start to the day.
The next day you could either visit the Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate factory or explore the fascinating zoo - both easily accessible by public transport.
